DON’T PANIC legenda

This legenda may be useful or needed to understand the parallel between the car burning article and the absurd thinking surrounding Lyme Disease.
Many people with persistent Lyme symptoms try reason and information to explain the bizarre politics, policies, misdiagnose and mistreatment of this controversial disease to their friends and family. But what if the situation is so absurd that it defies logic? Could satire do the trick better? An attempt.
Every year 25,000 Dutchmen get infected with Lyme Disease or Lyme Borreliose, as estimated by the information office (RIVM) of the Dutch Ministry of Health. The media copies these numbers often in broadcasts and articles. But how accurate are these numbers? This article argues why the actual number of infections is much higher. So much higher that Lyme can rightly be called an epidemic instead of a 'rare disease'.

Helping who?

The WHO, the World Health Organization, has recently published a short video about people-centred care. As a Lyme patient you will find the idea appealing. In this blog you will find out how to help the WHO reach its goals and create a sense of urgency in its member states. Including your own country.
In the same week the CDC issued its already infamous ‘warning’ about the risks of longterm Lyme treatment, my friend Carla had both her legs amputated.

Canaries in the coal mine

In recent years, there has been an increasing attention in the media for Lyme disease, which makes more people aware of the fact that there is something very strange and scary going on. Would it be possible however that this disease also has something beautiful to offer, besides all the misery it causes?

The difference between Hell and Hello

The fact that life can be hell is no news to the millions of people worldwide, who are suffering from Lyme Disease, its co-infections or its many, many misdiagnoses such as Alzheimer's disease , Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis or arthritis. These people desperately want to get recognition for the disease. Why do they and what would it take to achieve that?

What is the pain of Lyme patients?

Many people don’t understand why I made Lyme my business, as I am not offering a medical solution for it. Why would I spend years of my life educating the public about it and working to connect professionals from different backgrounds to create impact? What makes Lyme so different from any other health issue? Why does the social-emotional side of Lyme seem to hurt even deeper or his a larger impact than the physical side of it?

Fake news or research misconduct?

Millions of dollars of NIH grants have been supporting unverifiable opinions and screeds that attack those concerned and affected by complicated and persistent cases of Lyme disease. The director of the Ad Hoc Committee for Health Equity in ICD11 Borreliosis Codes and founder of the Global Network on Institutional Discrimination recently wrote a letter to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services about this issue.

Struck by a duck? Burned because your water skis caught on fire? Have a bizarre personal appearance? Fortunately, the World Health Organization has assigned over 68,000 diagnostic codes to cover these and thousands of other conditions. However, while getting struck by a duck or a spacecraft collision gets you care, Lyme Disease does not.
