  • Amazed a book can do this +

This actually speaks to people beyond its target audience (caretakers of people with Lyme Disease): people like me who are not travel companions, but to whom it is not hard at all to have or develop understanding and compassion. This makes the reach of this book bigger, much bigger if you’d ask me. I am amazed a book can do all of this!

Saskia Steur, a Dutch business blogger

  • A call to Humanity +

This book reads like an exciting novel, were it not that it concerns a deadly serious issue. With objective precision it describes a global issue that concerns us all, not just the many who are already infected. The author's call for solidarity in perspective and action fits well with what Humanity needs to do collectively: to contribute and take care of each other and our world. Read the book and weep, feel and act!

  • Shining light on complexity +

I could not stop until I had finished, being happily surprised by the quality, openness and freshness of this book. The metaphor of the Hero Journey surprised me, but also suddenly made the book much more applicable for me as the father of my daughter, who has been struggling for seventeen years with unbearable pains. Although I thought that I was just an interested layman, it gave me a sudden different perspective and a window that showed me clearly what deep down I already suspected. This book shines a light on the complexity, context and diversity of Lyme’s manifestations.

Henri, father of a chronically ill daughter

  • Incredibly inspiring +

Both the personal experiences as well as the author’s sharp mind turn this into an incredibly inspiriting book that raises the consciousness of its readers. It holds a unique vision for the start of a new era of health care. An era with a new type of research, approaches and methods of treatment. An era in which it will be of the utmost importance to discover the inner strength of the individual.

Tempting, informative and eminently readable! Shifting the Lyme Paradigm is an absolute eye-opener for those who are not aware of what the journey of Lyme disease entails.

    Terri Mackinnon-Cross, CEO WorldLymeDay.com, Canada

  • A shocking book +

A shocking book and an eye-opener for someone like me, who also has people with (not yet diagnosed) Lyme close to them. This book is a must to create real understanding for what this ravaging disease is doing to people. We all become immpatient easily and have our prejudices ready, which causes even more damage! Professionally it made me decide to specialise in Lyme.

Lenneke de Jager, natural therapist, the Netherlands

  • Witty, direct, critical and involved +

It’s time to care. Together we can try. Just start to fly from the bottum to the sky. Like starlings in the wind. Together we can heal the healing system.

Arianne van Kleef, health director, the Netherlands

  • Band-aid on an open wound +

My husband and I started reading together, each of us from our own perspective. Me on my own Hero Journey, he as my friend and travel companion. The recognition and acknowledgment this gave us was like a band-aid on an open wound. We also hope with all our heart that this book will contribute to the formation of a whole army of Friends, so that no Hero should ever walk this path alone. The author Huib Kraaijeveld seems to achieve this well. We thank him for this book.

    Sara, Lyme patient, Belgium

  • Courageous +

I am positively surprised by how this friendly style of writing makes this complex subject easily accessible. It touches me how the use the ‘Hero Journey’ leads me close to the question what Lyme really is. This is also a brave book. Unfortunately many people – and the medical science not in the least – are afraid to face Lyme for what it is. ‘Lyme’ is a complex, messy topic that involves all parts of human life. Furthermore it is surrounded by much obscurity, darkness and impropriety. This makes it hard to tackle this broad subject, if one wants to treat it as a whole. You just did this regardless of the risks, for which I – and I hope many people with me – am grateful.

Willem Jacobs, Lyme author, the Netherlands

  • Intensive and existential +

Very insistently written based on intensive, almost existential, personal experiences, this book also gives a clear overview of relevant infomation for both patients and caretakers. Furthermore it touches on issues surrounding Lyme that seem completely implausible to layman, such as the fact that Lyme kids are "not sick" and that their parents can ‘thus’ dangerous because of ‘Munchausen by proxy’. The virtual tour around Lyme lands is a good reflection of the seriousness of the situation, helped by its ironic undertone.

Jan Eendebak, chairman Lyme Foundation (STZ), the Netherlands

  • An open window for patients +

Author Huib Kraaijeveld ensured that people with Lyme disease have an open door and window. A window to a land where the ignorant do not wait, but he or she knows what is expected or asked for.

    Jos Bosch, philosopher, Germany

  • A relief to read +

A relief to read, written by an expert who shares his dedication to his own path with us. This book provides much valuable information that we can use on our own search. That will prevent everybody having to reinvent the wheel. The recognition and acknowledgement that I got from reading are very welcome, bcause nothing has brought most frustration during this journey that I’m on together with my daughter.

Muna, mother of a daughter with chronic Lyme

  • Playful, frightening, informative and encouraging +

    Playful, frightening, informative and encouraging.

    Merel, kinesiologist, the Netherlands

  • My new prescription +

This book made me realize that there is too little known behind the phenomenon Lyme. In a challenging manner the author provides understanding of Lyme disease and suggestions for tackling this disease. I have 'prescribed' this book to many of my patients and mostly astonishment was soon followed by recognition. An absolute must for anyone with (still) unexplained symptoms or the people close around them.

    Duco Kanij, osteopath, the Netherlands

  • Both tough and inspiring +

To me the part on the spiritual aspect of the topic was a relief, after the tough personal stories and the dry description of all these institutions, power and powerlessness. Nothing happens without reason, there is always something people learn even in a situation like this. It all depends what creativity in brings out in people, doesn’t it?

Monique Tijsma, professional in Psychiatry, the Netherlands

  • Recommended to all +

This book guides you through a labyrinth swiftly, while it took us YEARS to even get this far. He puts the road marks on all the right places, which enables you – as friend, family member or even as patient – to spend your time wisely on helping or controlling the situation, as I would call it myself. I can warmly recommend Shifting the Lyme Paradigm to anyone who is close to someone with Lyme or who is just interested in the subject.

Eugenie van der Linden, Lyme patient and mother of a daughter with Lyme, the Netherlands
